App Sprint Austin - Success

We had our first Austin Apps sprint last week and got quite a bit done. We had 12 people from Phase2 Technology, LevelTen, Four Kitchens, Mediacurrent and Pantheon all had people at the sprint. Thanks to Four Kitchens for helping us provide a space for the Sprint.

Section Fronts: with some help from Views Arguments Extras

Section Fronts can mean a lot of different things. But in general they are a page that aggregates stories around a topic or section. I will run through using the Views Arguments Extras module to easily implement a section front concept in drupal.

Using Nodes to store Advance Help Topics

A few weeks a go a colleague, Kelly, approached me about helping her use the advanced help module to insert contextual help on node edit forms. She was looking for ways to expand the help options available and make using Drupal just a little easier for first-timers.

Baby Steps to a Distributed Social Web

While enjoying DrupalCon I attended the OpenID, Drupal, and the Open Web presentation by James Walker. It was a nice presentation that briefly went over the technologies that are moving us closer to a distributed social network. While I think it is still a while off before we are able to seemlessly move from site to site with one identity, with full control over our content, sharing with those we choose, and effortlessly enjoying the shares of our friends and family, I think we can help to lay the foundation for the distributed social web.
