Run Firefox 2 and 3 simultaneously without using a third-party tool

I came across a site that does a fairly good job of walking you through the process of installing multiple instances of Firefox on your machine, and running them simultaneously using independent profiles. Check it out here I was able to get this to work quickly and easily.
