There's nothing like filling a brand new role in an organization. Sure there are the new challenges of uncharted territory, and the opportunity to build a new area of expertise in the company, but the best part is everyone at the office asking "so what do you DO here, again?"

I joined Phase2 a month and a half ago as our Community Manager, and will be focusing on the communities around Phase2's products, including OpenPublic, OpenPublishOpen Atrium, Managing News, and Tattler (whew!), as well as the modules we maintain for the Drupal community. Our goal is to facilitate more communication, contribution, and value around these modules and products, and my job is to make that happen.

So to answer the "what do you do here?" question, here's what I've working on since I started:

  • Building documentation for OpenPublic and OpenPublish on Drupal7.  Want to contribute? Let me know your ideas in the comments below!
  • Developing further training opportunities around our products. If you missed OpenPublic's training, there will be another one on the calendar soon. Plus, we just offered our first Open Atrium training last week! Follow us on twitter to stay up-to-date on the latest traings:  OpenPublic & Open Atrium
  • Helping the many app builders, theme builders, testers, and contributors in the community build and contribute awesome stuff for these distributions.
  • Gathering feedback from our community users on our products to determine what features you want most. Look for me in groups.drupal.org for each of our distributions because I will be gathering feedback there!
  • Reviewing patches and questions in the issue queues around popular modules that we maintain, including Features, Context, Boxes, and many more. If you want to know more about our issue queue philosophy, Frank explains it well.

We'll also be communicating regularly about the work we are doing.  If you want to stay in the loop about our modules and products, please check our blog for regular updates and get involved in groups.drupal.org for product dialogue.  We have the following groups on groups.drupal.org:

So that's what I do. I'd welcome your ideas, questions, and contributions -- in fact, we can't do this without you. See you in the issue queues!

Welcome to the Community

It's really exciting to see Phase2 add a Community Manager to their team and product communication. I'm looking forward to seeing how this helps route people through the multiple layers of community, discussion, and contribution that projects like OpenAtrium seem to create.

Welcome to the Distributions corner of Drupal.

What is the status of the Tattler app? I am interested in using it. Is it still being maintained?
