Make sure to take a look at Jakob Nielson’s recent post on application design. In it he stresses the need for iterative design and testing, something we at Phase 2 believe in and practice. As usual, Nielson has done a good job of completely explaining top 10 application design sins. Two of the ten are pet peeves of mine:

As usual, Nielson has done a good job of completely explaining top 10 application design sins.

Two of the ten are pet peeves of mine:

  • Not Indicating How Info Will Be Used – if you are asking me (the user) to give you information, then tell me how it will be used, how it will show up and where else it will appear.
  • Looking Like a GUI Control Without Being One – if you design something to look like a button and it’s not, I think it’s broken – that simple.
