Getting content on your site

Tiffany:

For several years, you heard “content is king” from the lips of every web marketer. Then, there seemed to be a backlash. Websites trended towards flash and visual pieces. But like most things, the pendulum has swung back…quality information content again reigns supreme.

Many of our clients are struggling with how to get quality content for their sites. Even if your company doesn’t produce tons of original content, there are some smart and easy ways to get more content on your site. And, good fresh content brings people back to your site, and can help you get better positioning on search engines.

Here are three things you can do soon:

RSS feeds can be a sites best friend. Almost every news source from The Washington Post to the Idaho Mountain Express has feeds with their latest news. A site owner can easily add feeds of relevant news to their industry.

Check out the blogosphere. Most blogs also have feeds available. And yes, I know there are a lot of useless blogs, but there are also really smart, well-written blogs that have loads of good information, no matter what the topic. Two of my favorites are My Digimedia and Dumb Little Man – both have good information but on completely different topics.

Reconfigure existing information. Does your company have white papers? What about audio or video recordings from conferences or events? Graphics, facts and figures? Put them up! The information could be useful to many people, establish your company as a thought leader and of course, bring in more business.

There are lots of other ways to increase content, just think creatively. And, we’d love to hear your ideas about content development.
