Firefox 3.5 released, and the townfolk rejoiced!
As you may have heard Mozilla release Firefox 3.5 today. Since my switch to the mac robbed me of my beloved Chrome (at least for now!) I went back to old faithful; and boy was I spoiled by Chromes speed! But, fear not - this latest release puts Firefox back in contention. Its been a while since Ive used Chrome, so taking that out of the picture the difference in speed between Ff v. 3 and Ff v. 3.5 was extremely noticeable. Mozilla's claims of a 2x speed increase might be on the conservative side, especially if you are frequenting JS heavy sites regularly.
Other than that, there are some less prominent but still useful goodies; a new tab button, more privacy options, HTML 5 support, etc. Wired has a pretty good rundown of the new/revised features most will care about. But, if you are anything like me, the increase in speed is worth the download; as long as you dont mind losing support for some of you favorite plug ins...at least for a little while.

Mac did not rob you :)
There is a preview version of Chrome for Mac: http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/eula_dev.html?dl=mac
Also, if you liked Chrome on Windows, you really should give Safari4 a chance. Chrome is using engine originally developed for Safari (WebKit) but Safari has MUCH better/faster Javascript implementation.
Tried the preview & Safari...
The Chrome preview was OK - it was too buggy for daily use and didn't include things like flash, etc. I will be more than happy to switch back when it is officially released.
As far as Safari - I tried that too and it just rubbed me the wrong way. There were some little things that bugged me. For instance, in any other browser, opening a drop down and typing a letter would take you to the selections that began with that letter - in Safari (prob just a bug) typing ANY letter always brought me to the W section of the drop down list. Small, I know - but annoying enough in conjunction with other small things to push my towards FF.
